President's Message

Dear Esteemed Members of MRCA,

It is with immense pride and gratitude that I accept the role of President of the Malaysia Retail Chain Association for the term 2024-2026. As we embark on this exciting journey together, I am filled with anticipation for the boundless opportunities that await us in shaping the future of the retail industry in Malaysia.

Our mission for the next two years is crystal clear: to foster collaboration, drive innovation, and cultivate sustainable growth within our vibrant retail landscape. To achieve this ambitious goal, I am thrilled to outline our comprehensive agenda, which centers around six key objectives:

  1. Networking Effectiveness Techniques: Recognizing the challenges posed by the volatile and complex environment we operate in, we will harness the collective expertise of MRCA's four pillars - Retail, F&B, Franchise, and Digitalization. Through initiatives like Members Meetings and the CEO Get Together Programs, we will facilitate invaluable sharing and learning opportunities. Moreover, our commitment to giving back to society through activities like Charity Events, Branding and Education endeavours, and Sports and Recreation initiatives will further strengthen our bonds and foster a sense of community among our members.
  2. Embrace Globalization: In an increasingly interconnected world, globalization is not just a choice but a necessity for success. MRCA will serve as a platform for our members to engage with both local and international players in the retail arena. Through organized field trips, exhibitions, and trade shows, we will ensure that our members stay at the forefront of global retail innovation.
  3. Continuous Learning Culture: As the retail landscape evolves at a rapid pace, continuous learning becomes paramount. We are committed to cultivating a culture of lifelong learning among our members through initiatives such as the MRCA Academy and collaborations with HRD Corp. By forging partnerships with Higher Learning Institutions, we will also provide invaluable opportunities for graduates to join and contribute to our dynamic industry.
  4. Engagement with the Authorities: To navigate economic policies and regulatory changes effectively, proactive engagement with the authorities is imperative. MRCA will actively participate in government initiatives, leveraging grants and resources to keep our members informed and empowered. Our quarterly Retail Survey data reports will provide invaluable insights, ensuring that our members are well-equipped to navigate the ever-changing landscape.
  5. First Mover Advantage: In an era defined by technological advancements and ESG considerations, being a first mover is crucial. MRCA will lead the charge in embracing innovation, facilitating interactions with industry leaders in AI and ESG technology. By staying ahead of the curve, we will help our members not only survive but thrive in the face of disruptions.
  6. Tradition and Innovation: As we embrace the future, we must also honor our past. MRCA's rich tradition and culture will remain central to our identity as we embrace innovation and change. We are committed to inclusivity, catering to the diverse interests of our members through initiatives like the Youth Division, Women Division, and Growing Chapters, including the established Southern Chapter.

Together, we possess the power to shape the future of the Malaysian retail industry. I am deeply grateful for the trust you have placed in me, and I am eager to collaborate with each and every one of you to realize our shared vision of a vibrant and thriving retail ecosystem.
